Home
Olympic Ridge Wireless service includes multiple Email accounts (within reason) to each customer. The Email service includes Spam Blocking with adjustable thresholds and Virus protection. The service can be used with most Email programs you may have on your computer. Known compatible programs are: Outlook Express, Outlook, MacMail, Entourage, and Eudora.

Away
When you are away from home and not connected to the Olympic Ridge Wireless service you can still browse the internet and receive your Email depending on your situation. The following two scenarios are explained:

  1. You are away from home but have a Laptop or other computer that has your email program with your email account information. You should be able to receive your Email as long as you can attach to the internet using dialup, wireless or a wired connection with that computer in the same way that you would from home. Altho be aware that you may be blocked from sending email in this manner depending on the connection provider.
  2. If you are away from home and don't have a computer with your own email program and account information. You can use a relatives computer or public time-rental computer and still send and receive your email as long as you can get to the internet by using our WebMail service.  Use the following WebMail process:

      A. Start the computers web browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) and connect to www.whidbeytel.com
      B. Click on the       My E-Mail Center picture in the lower right hand corner.
      C. When the E-Mail Center page comes up, click on the New Web Mail Login.
      D. Enter your user name alias like dmxxxx and password xxxxxx and click on Login.
That's it, all of your active email should show up there and you can create and send messages there also. If you don't know your email alias information please contact me.

Error Messages
If you get a message like this:

"At the time this message was sent, your mailbox was 90% full. If you received this message along with other email, it's probably empty now."

It could be that you haven't read your mail in a while, or that you were sent a large attachment. However, if you have been reading your email, there may be old messages stored in your mailbox. You can remove old mail by visiting: http://www.whidbey.net/mailcenter/webmail2 and using the procedure in 2 A-D above.
If you continue to receive warnings about your mailbox size, make sure the "save messages on server" feature is turned off in your email program.
In Outlook Express click on Tools/Accounts highlight your account and choose Properties then select the advanced tab and make sure the 'Leave a copy of messages on server' box is not checked.

While 15 MB of storage space is usually plenty, you may require more. Extra space can be requested by calling Olympic Ridge Wireless at: 437-8087.

Spam Blocking
Your email service includes a sophisticated Spam Blocking service which will send you an email with a list of which emails have been blocked. Check the list and if you find an email address that you want to rescue, check the Trust Box next to the senders address and click on the Rescue Checked Message button at the bottom of the page. This will take you to the mail server site where you can confirm which senders will be added to your trusted senders list. You can also set the level of spam blocking, the lower the number the more spam is blocked but you may also block more trusted senders by setting the number too low.
